THE JAZZ CLUB – 09 – April 2020 with guest Omar Zubier

In the April edition of THE JAZZ CLUB – which is exactly on WORLD JAZZ DAY – I have a guest: Omar Zubier, an old friend of mine from Zanzibar/Tanzania. I know him since more than 30 years, when I spent some time for field research on this beautiful island in the Indian Ocean.

Omar, who lives since the 1990-ies in Copenhagen/Denmark, is a dedicated Jazz fan. He will let us know how he came to love Jazz and present some of his favorite tunes. The music you will listen to is by Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Dave Brubeck, Horace Silver, Jimmy Smith, Wes Montgomery, Herbie Hancock, Nina Simone, Dinah Washington and Taj Mahal.

The interview with Omar was recorded via the Internet, so the sound quality is sometimes not up to standard. And this program is in English!

Omar will join me in one of the next programs again, when we will talk about African Jazz.
