from within: Caspar Johannes Walter & Timothy McCormack

03.04.2025

In this episode of Radio Schallfeld, we present two composers who seem very different and still share many similarities. Caspar Johannes Walter and Timothy McCormack have both been our guests recently in Graz to work on their pieces „Gesang der Töne (aus der Nähe)“ and „…yours in the process of being absorbed“ with Ensemble Schallfeld. Both explore subtle nuances of expression through microtonality, voice, timbre and color, creating breathing, organic forms. We talk about transfering „old“ compositions with electronics into modern technical environments, and Tim tells how his piece actually came into being and how he decided to transform a very personal topic into music.
