Snow is not just white and cold. In literature and the visual arts, its evocations, representations and descriptions express cultural perceptions and reflect esthetic views as well as social concerns. We examine paintings and novels by Austrian (including Tyrolian), Canadian, Danish, German, and US creators, discover and enjoy their motifs and themes, compare and contrast them, and delve for a short while in their intriguing worlds.

In English, French, and a little bit of German.
