Robot Mask Demo at the Ars Electronica 2011
The University of Tsukuba from Japan, was one of the guest at the Ars Electronica Festivals this year. As part of the Campus Exhibition it featured not only current students work but also 26 exemplary works that illustrate 30 years of innovative design fusing Art and engineering technologies since it was created in 1975. With a number of demonstrations during the festival, visitors could get a closer look at some of the works created. The Robot Mask was one of them.
The Robot Mask is a device to support and enhance the expressiveness of the face by using robotics and biomedical technologies and was created by Dushyantha Jayatilake, Anna Gruebler, Kenji Suzuki.

The University of Tsukuba has played a vital role in the field of media art scene for 30 years. The School of Art and Design of the University of Tsukuba has produced many world-renowned media artists. Recently‚ many researchers make presentation using artistic expressions.
The University of Tsukuba was invited for the „Ars Erectronica Campas 2011“ for this longstanding effort. The work will be created by world-renowned artists who graduated from the university.
