Live Sendung mit Electric Indigo und ihrem Album „5 1 1 5 9 3“ 

Zuletzt hat uns die Wiener Elektronik Produzentin, Komponistin und DJ Electric Indigo aka Susanne Kirchmayr vor fünf Jahren im Studio besucht. Der Grundstein für ihre internationale Karriere wurde in den frühen 90er Jahren in Berlin, der europäischen Techno-Metropole, während sie im legendären Plattenladen Hard Wax arbeitete, gelegt. Schon 1989 als DJ unterwegs, produzierte sie nun eigene Tracks und Remixes für den Dancefloor.
Als Mitbegründerin von female:pressure 1998 ist sie eine Wegbereiterin für die verstärkte Wahrnehmung und Anerkennung von weiblichen, transgender und non-binary Artist in der elektronischen Musikszene. Das Netzwerk feiert heuer sein 20-jähriges Jubiläum. In der dazugehörigen Online-Datenbank, sind mehrere tausend DJs, Musikerinnen, Komponistinnen, Produzentinnen, Visualistinnen, bildende Künstlerinnen, Journalistinnen, Forscherinnen und Vermittlerinnen aus dem Bereich der elektronischen Musik und der digitalen Künste in 74 Ländern gelistet.
Electric Indigo selbst ging in den letzten Jahren auf Entdeckungsreisen in neue musikalische Genres. Ihr Weg führte sie zu Mehrkanal-Kompositionen, Klanginstallationen und der zeitgenössischen Oper, so hat sich die Künstlerin nicht nur im Clubkontext einen Namen gemacht, sondern ist auch bei Festivals der zeitgenössischen Musik, wie den Klangspuren Schwaz, Wien Modern, Heroines of Sound oder dem Berliner CTM Festival, ein gern gesehener Gast.
2016 hielt Electric Indigo erstmals Lectures im Rahmen des Atelier Elektronik der Darmstädter Ferienkurse, das sie als erste Künstlerin 2018 kuratiert.
Heute sprechen wir mit ihr über ihr erstes Full-Length-Album „5 1 1 5 9 3“ , das am 16.03.2018 auf dem Label imbalance computer music seinen Release feiert. Ein Album an der Schnittstelle der elektronischen Clubmusik und der zeitgenössischen Elektroakustik.

Live Guest Electric Indigo

The Viennese electronic producer, composer and DJ Electric Indigo aka Susanne Kirchmayr visited us five years ago in the studio. The basis for her international career was set in the early 90s in Berlin, the European techno-metropolis, while she worked in the legendary Hard Wax record shop. Back in 1989 she started deejaying, she now produced her own tracks and remixes for the dancefloor.
As co-founder of female: pressure 1998, she is a pioneer in the increased perception and recognition of female, transgender and non-binary artists in the electronic music scene. The network is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. In the associated online database, several thousand DJs, musicians, composers, producers, visual artists, journalists and researchers in 74 countries in the field of electronic music and the digital arts are listed.
Electric Indigo herself has been exploring new musical genres in recent years. Her path has led her to multichannel compositions, sound installations and contemporary opera. The artist has not only made it in the club context, she also has appeared at festivals of contemporary music such as the Klangspuren Schwaz, Wien Modern, Heroines of Sound or the Berlin CTM Festival,as a welcomed guest.
In 2016, Electric Indigo held lectures for the first time as part of the Atelier Elektronik Darmstädter Ferienkurse, which she curated as the first female artist in 2018.
Today we talk about her first full-length album „5 1 1 5 9 3“, which will be release on 16.03.2018 on the label „imbalance computer music“. An album at the intersection of electronic club music and contemporary electroacoustics.
