On a drifting ice floe at the North Pole
13.05.2018
Interview with the oceanographer Sergey Pisarev who works for the renown Russian Shirshov Institute of Oceanology.
Sergey Pisarev has been researching for more than 10 years on a drifting ice plate close to the North Pole – about the water currents, the temperature and the ice quality it self. Pisarev is leading research teams and selecting people to live with him in these temporary tents on the drifting ice each year from April onwards for 1-3 months. Sergey Pisarev was a cosmonaut candidate in the 1990ies and also sometimes works with artists. He was a participant of the First Antarctic Biennale in March 2017.
The Antarctic Biennale was initiated and created by the Russian artist Alexander Ponomarev and curated by Nadim Samman.
