Medicine: DOACs safe and effective, good news for the elderly

Millions of elderly patients have to take warfarin or phenprocoumon, generally known in German speaking countries as Marcumar. DOACs (direct oral anticoagulants) are an alternative to warfarin or phenprocoumon. DOACs are very new. Do they cause problems? But the DOACs certainly are more convenient. And the news from 2014 is: DOACs (direct oral anticoagulants) are safe and effective when compared with warfarin or phenprocoumon, generally known in German speaking countries as Marcumar. This is good news for the elderly.
