La brèche #50 Virtuosity with Purpose (American Minimalism)

C’est la 50ème émission de La brèche. Plus de 2ans d’émissions en direct quasi hebdomadaires. 80h de show. Plus de 1000 sons soigneusement choisis. Des émissions diffusées internationalement. Des invités, des dj set en direct. Des sélections pointilleuses sur des mondes variés. C’est ça, La brèche, et c’est sur Campus FM Toulouse et Radio Helsinki Graz, merci à eux !

Je suis très heureux de vivre cette expérience, de la voir évoluer au fil du temps. Elle m’a permis de prendre une certaine confiance en moi mais aussi donné beaucoup de plaisir à l’idée de partager ces mondes musicaux (qui me sont chers) au reste du monde. C’est aussi un média qui permet le dépassement, qui me pousse à la recherche et à la création. C’est ça, la magie de la radio : un monde où l’on est à la fois seul dans un studio et en même temps face au monde entier, dans un monde d’ondes qui flottent et qui attendent d’êtres capturées. La brèche, c’est la solitude et le partage à la fois, c’est la création et le passage.

Je m’étais demandé : comment rendre cette 50ème émission plus importante que les autres, comment la faire sortir du lot ? Mais j’ai compris que ce n’était pas nécessaire. Les trois dernières émissions étaient plutôt axées sur la célébration, avec des mix dansants, des invités et de la fête. Pour cette 50ème, on va fêter autrement, plus en minimalisme. Rien de tel alors que de faire un show sur le minimalisme américain des fin 60 et 70’s Un genre musical qui me plaît énormément mais que je n’ai jamais osé passer à la radio.

Il est temps ! On va parler de quelques artistes seulement, car les morceaux sont très longs et il est très important de les écouter du début à la fin, de les laisser agir en nous, tout comme les silences qui s’en suit.J’ai vécu mes meilleurs instants musicaux avec cette sélection et espère bien vous faire entrevoir le bonheur que j’ai pu ressentir. On parlera de ces cinq artistes américains :

Jon Gibson, Charlemagne Palestine, Terry Jennings et Terry Riley.

This is the 50th broadcast of La Brèche. More than 2 years of almost weekly live broadcasts. 80 hours of show. Over 1000 carefully chosen sounds. Programs broadcast internationally. Guests, live DJ sets. Careful selections from varied worlds. That’s it, The Breach.

I am very happy to live this experience, to see it evolve over the time. It allowed me to gain a certain confidence in myself but also gave me a lot of pleasure by sharing these musical worlds (which are important to me) with the rest of the world. It is also a media that allows me to surpass myself, which pushes me to research and create. That’s the magic of radio: a world where you are both alone in a studio and at the same time facing the whole world, a world of waves that float and wait to be captured. The breach is solitude and sharing at the same time, it is creation and passage.

I asked myself: how to make this 50th show more important than the others, how to make it stand out from the crowd? But I understood that it was not necessary. The last three shows were more celebration focused, with dance mixes, guests and partying. For this 50th, we are going to celebrate differently, more minimalistically. Nothing like doing a show on American minimalism from the late 60’s and 70’s. A musical genre that I really like but which I have never dared to play on the radio.

It’s time ! We are going to talk about only a few artists, because the pieces are very long and it is very important to listen to them from start to finish, to let them act within us, just like the silences that follow. I experienced my best musical moments with this selection and hope to give you a glimpse of the happiness I was able to feel. We will talk about these five American artists:

Jon Gibson, Charlemagne Palestine, Terry Jennings and Terry Riley.
