In the Open is a multidisciplinary exhibition and accompanying programme that explores the potentials and restrictions of public space. In view of the growing socio-political, economic, and ecological crises, In the Open addresses the significance and ongoing transformation of social space, also as a mirror of democratic participation and as an instrument for systemic change.
Framing the decline of open communal space in a temporal context and critically reflecting the consequences thereof, the project seeks valid counter-proposals for a shared future: In activities ranging from thematic workshops to game afternoons, luncheons, and discussion rounds, In the Open prospects multidisciplinary, interactive, and participatory methods to negotiate and redefine public space in collaboration with the visitors.
