Die Rolle der Literatur für den slowenischen Kulturkreis schätzt der slowenische Autor, Kritiker und Intellektuelle Drago Jančar als sehr wichtig ein. Literatur war für Slowenien stets jenes Neunte Land, in dem Souveränität und Autonomie vorgestellt werden konnten. Und dabei sind die slowenischen Autoren angefangen bei France Prešeren und Ivan Cankar bis hin zu Florjan Lipuš dem blinden nationalistischen Provinzialismus kritisch und ironisch gegenüber gestanden. Das slowenische Literaturschaffen sieht Drago Jančar stets von Widerständigkeit beseelt.

The Slovene author, critic and intellectual, Drago Jancar assesses the role of literature for the Slovene cultural circle as extremely important. For Slovenia, literature has always been that ninth land in which sovereignty and autonomy were able to be represented. For all that, the Slovene authors, from France Preseren and Ivan Cankar to Florjan Lipus, have always confronted blind nationalist provincialism critically and ironically. Drago Jancar sees Slovene literature production as constantly inspired by opposition.
