Triest als Ort der Schrift bedeutet Passage, Übergang, Schwelle und Tür. Der Triestiner Slowene Marko Kravos und die istrische Triestinerin Patrizia Vascotto setzen sich beide bewusst mit den Chancen und den Paradoxien, der Weltläufigkeit und der Provinzialität auseinander, mit denen sie in ihrer Stadt konfrontiert sind. Beiden ist das jeweils Andere als Möglichkeit der Selbstwahrnehmung zentrales Topos ihres Schreibens.

Trieste as the scene of writing means passage-way, transition, threshold and door. Both the Triestine Slovene, Marko Kravos, and the Istrian Triestine Patrizia Vascotto grapple consciously with the opportunities and the paradoxes, the ways of the world and the provincialism with which they are confronted in their city. For both, the other as a possibility of self- perception is the central topos of their writing.
