Canadian Art canadien / Episode 2 / Shawn Serfas

Welcome to our series on Canadian art. I am Clamenç Prades and will take you over the months through several visits of the Rodman Hall Art Centre in St. Catharines, Niagara Region. Each time, we will discover artwork by an emergent, mid-career or established Canadian artist. Our visits will be bilingual, first in French, then in English. For our second visit, we’ll discover the abstracts works of Shawn Serfas, a visual artist from the Canadian West. Transforming and reshaping his colourful paintings into sculptural objects, he offers a comment on natural landscapes and pollution.

Bienvenue dans notre série sur l’art canadien. Je suis Clamenç Prades et vous accompagnerai au cours de mois lors de plusieurs visites du Centre d’art de Rodman Hall à St. Catharines dans la région du Niagara. Chaque fois, nous découvrirons l’œuvre d’un artiste canadien, que celui-ci soit émergent, en milieu de carrière ou établi. Nos visites seront bilingues, d’abord en français, puis en anglais. Pour notre seconde visite, nous découvrirons les tableaux abstraits de Shawn Serfas, artiste de l’Ouest canadien. Transformant ses tableaux aux riches couleurs en objets sculpturaux, il offre un commentaire sur les paysages naturels et la pollution.
